Six square waves at clashing ratios make the metallic cluster, blended with noise and shaped by three envelopes: a short closed tick, an open ring, and a crash that rings four times longer with a splash of noise. A closed hit chokes the open ring, as on any hat. The Cl, Op and Cr buttons play the three by hand; a cord from a Microdot, a PianoRoll or a keyboard plays them by note, with 46 open, 49 crash and any other note closed, so a one-note pattern just works. OffBeat fires the open hat on every off-eighth while the transport runs, so with a Kick this is a house groove with no sequencer corded at all.
Parameters
Tune
Shifts the whole cluster in semitones. Down is heavier, up is smaller and glassier.
Metal
The blend between the oscillator cluster and plain noise. High is the classic machine cymbal, low is airier.
Tone
Tilts the filters: low is fuller and darker, high is thin and hissing.
ClosedDecay
How fast the closed tick dies, in milliseconds.
OpenDecay
How long the open hat rings, in milliseconds. The crash rings four times longer.
Drive
Pushes the voice into gentle saturation.
Level
Output volume.
OffBeat
Fires the open hat on every off-eighth while the transport runs.
Closed
Plays the closed tick. The Cl button.
Open
Plays the open hat. The Op button.
Crash
Plays the crash. The Cr button.
SwingFollow
Follow makes the OffBeat hits take the patch groove from the transport instead of the Swing knob.
Swing
Delays the OffBeat hits towards a triplet feel. Used only while SwingFollow is off.
