Flips the polarity of a signal: every sample times minus one.
Use it when two copies of a signal meet and the sum goes thin, as with a microphone pair or a parallel effect chain; inverting one branch often restores the body. It also makes a wide pseudo-stereo image from a mono source when the plain copy goes to one side of a Mixer and the inverted copy to the other, and it subtracts one signal from another when both land on the same Bus. It takes as many channels as are corded into it, and the property editor shows a stereo field scope of what leaves it, so a cancellation is visible as well as audible. There are no parameters.
Recipe
| Null test | Cord a source into a Mixer strip directly and again through an effect and an Invert into a second strip. With the effect bypassed the Mixer goes silent; switch the effect on and what remains is exactly what the effect adds. |
