Humus 0.5.1 is out!

Humus 0.5.1 is out. It is a point release with two big things in it: the whole app now speaks Italian, French and German, and a patch can reach every output of a large multichannel interface, with files to fill them.
Humus in your language
Choose Settings ▸ Graphics & UI ▸ Language and the interface switches on the spot, no restart. It is not just the menus: every organism's help page, the guide and the first-boot tour are translated too, and so is this website, at /it, /fr and /de.
The translations were drafted by machine and checked by a second pass, so they read well but have not been through a native speaker yet. If something sounds off, tell us with Help ▸ Report a Bug...: that is exactly the note we want.
Every channel of a big interface
Humus used to stop at 32 interface channels: the Audio settings would only keep 32 active, and anything sent past output 32 went nowhere. Both limits are now 256, in and out, so a 64-channel interface or a 128-channel network card is all there.
A few things make wide patches easier to build:
- Shift-drag a cord to wire every channel between two organisms at once, eight outputs into eight inputs in one drag. Shift+Alt fans one outlet across every inlet from there on.
- AuxIn and AuxOut in patches from older multichannel hosts land on their stereo pairs again (AuxOut1 on 3/4, AuxOut2 on 5/6), up to 127 pairs.
- File previews can play on their own outputs. In Settings ▸ Audio ▸ File previews play on, pick your headphone pair and auditioning in the Library stays out of the main mix.
One file per speaker
FilePlayer has a new Outputs menu. Set it to 4, 6, 8, 16, 24 or 32 and it becomes a multi-file player with one file row per output. A file plays from its row's output on, one output per channel: eight mono files go to eight speakers, and a six-channel file fills six outputs on its own. All the files start, stop, loop and scrub together, and the longest one sets the length.
Recording goes the other way through FileRecorder, which already writes multichannel files: its Ch setting decides how many inputs each file takes.
And the rest
- A What's New card after each update says what changed, in plain lines.
- Cords move: grab a cord's end at the inlet and drop it on another, or Cmd-drag an outlet to move all its cords.
- Deck gets Peak and timecode calibration, and steadier timecode, loops and film playback.
- On Windows, an ASIO driver that crashes or freezes is now tried on its own first and hidden, instead of taking Humus down with it.
- And the site has a new address: humus.art.
